Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Framework?
The EYFS framework begins as soon as a child is born and continues until the child enters Year 1 at school.
Development is play based and learning is a holistic approach.
We use observations of children to enhance our environment to meet their needs/interests, once we have enough observations we then devise an individual play plan to develop and extend their learning using our 6 areas of development:
- Personal, Social and Emotional
- Communication, Language and Literacy
- Knowledge and Understanding of the World
- Problem Solving, Reasoning and Numeracy
- Physical
- Creative
At the end of a child's time at the pre-school all the documents are sent to their reception teacher to continue the framework.
The framework encompasses many aspects. If you would like to read more about it then please visit the EYFS website.
Is the pre-school registered?
Yes, the pre-school is registered with the Office for Standards in Education (Ofsted). Our registration number is: EZ142782.
We are inspected by Ofsted:
- Annually to ensure we comply with the National Standards in Day Care.
- Approximately every 3 years on quality of the educational provision for funded three and four year olds.
Copies of previous inspection reports can be obtained from the pre-school or found on the Ofsted website.
How can I get involved?
Parents are always welcome at St. George's Pre-school, especially when your child first starts. If you are able to, please sign up for a 'stay and play' session when you can. A timetable can be found on the notice board at pre-school.
If you can spare the time and want to be more involved you might like to consider joining the committee. The committee is very active and organises regular social events. Every one is invited to participate in whatever way they can - from fundraising to admin.
